This Week in Package Theft – 5.0

Package thefts prevention by Package Guard

Welcome to This Week in Package Theft. We see an increase in package theft, so if we can help expose the people doing this and ideas on how to stop them, we think that is a good thing.

Each week, we’ll feature 2-3 package theft videos or stories from around the web and bring you rants, raves, tips, tricks, advice and a place to share ideas on how to help stop package theft.  Come join us at TWIPT.

August 11- This Week in Package Theft – TWIPT

Here’s a segment about homeowners using technology and surveillance cameras to help catch package thieves. The interviewee says that the camera helps him feel safer as well. Cops are jumping in, too. As you see in the video, the newscaster says police have assigned a detective to help catch package thieves. Lots of time and resources going into these criminals. I know we can help stop these porch pirates and protect your packages!

This story is a blog (not a video), but we thought it was worth sharing. It’s a story about two package theft victims and the runaround and rigamarole they dealt with to try to get a stolen item replaced. No one takes responsibility and everyone’s pointing fingers. It’s important for homeowners to know their rights and reporting processes for the police. Here’s a tip from the article: “Instead of calling or visiting a station, you can file an online report for a theft of property under $5,000 and have it assigned to an investigator, said Jeniffer Sidhu, a media officer at the Toronto Police Service.”

Porch pirates beware – people are taking this crime very seriously and you will go to jail when you are caught!
