  • Photos of package and damaged contents (if appropriate).
  • Serial number(s) of damaged or lost merchandise.
  • Proof-of-value documentation: copy of original invoice from vendor/supplier, copy of retail invoice/receipt, final confirmation screen (if it’s an online order) with proof of payment, itemized repair invoice or statement of non-repair, appraisal(s), expense statement — any applicable documentation.

    Submit your claim

Review your information, submit the claim form and print your case number page for your records.

IF you package was determined as missing email us at hello@packageguard.com. Add “USPS Mail Verified as Missing” to the subject line and we will walk through the remaining steps with you FREE of charge to help you find resolution.

Schedule an inspection

FedEx will notify you if your claim requires an inspection. Please maintain the original packaging, including cartons and contents. This prepares the package for inspection. Lastly, keep them until your claim is resolved.

Track the status of your claim

Check the status of your claim online at any time or request email updates. Most submitted claims are resolved in five to seven business days unless additional research is needed. FedEx will notify you when your claim is resolved.

What if their records say your package was delivered?

If FedEx has checked their facilities, vehicles and have a record that your package was delivered, they may not be liable for your refund. At this point, you are a victim of mail or package theft. This is one of the fastest growing crimes in America. You are not alone according to a report by Parks Associates 11 million Americans have had a package stolen and more than 33% of Americans are concerned about their packages being stolen.

NOTE: Neither of these options will help you get your package back, but they can help law enforcement better understand and map crime rates in your area. If you paid for third party package insurance, or your homeowner’s insurance covers it, they will require one of the previous reports you already completed and a police report to file a claim.

We hope this made the process easier for you! If you felt our Free FedEx Lost Package Guide was helpful, please share it with friends who have had to deal with the same headache of filing a lost package claim.

Why is Package Theft trending?

Are you and your friends ordering more products online this year than last year? More and more packages are arriving… and more are being stolen.

Every year more packages are delivered than the previous year. All of us “love” the convenience of online shopping, so this trend is not slowing down. “Our goal is to provide an affordable solution that gives you the peace of mind you want regarding home deliveries,” says Mike Grabham, founder of Package Guard. A serial entrepreneur, he was a victim of package theft. Packages were stolen from him that were purchased to provide cold weather clothing and gear for the homeless. “I learned first hand what a pain it is to lose a package, find and submit claim forms, and waste a lot of time going back and forth with the seller. It was not a great experience.” So he created Package Guard.

package protectionWith the dramatic increase in valuable items delivered, package theft has increased along with deliveries. This is a crime of opportunity. Anyone can commit package theft and with almost no risk of getting caught until “after” the crime. It attracts all kinds of opportunistic and unskilled thieves which isn’t great for neighborhoods and communities. People are getting important, sometimes life critical items stolen, like this story about a mother getting her baby’s special formula stolen which had run out the day before. There are hundreds of stories similar to this about losing things that are irreplaceable or time sensitive. Package Guard helps combat this problem.

“Along with the real time alerts you have the help of your neighbors through Safe Circle. The easy to use app keeps all your information of past deliveries and current package arrivals. These features with the optional yard sign and internal alarm gives you peace of mind of knowing your package will be there when you get home,” says Grabham.

UPS lost package claim guideGiven its origin, Package Guard, Inc gives $1 for every device sold to the nonprofit Survive the Streets. Grabham says, “Our hope is we can help the homeless by protecting your home from package thieves $1 at a time. It is great way to help those less fortunate.” Mike Grabham and Patti Dunn have managed the nonprofit for the last 18 years. “Every Thanksgiving we help hundreds of people living in shelters. It truly is one of the best days for us every year,” says Patti.

We’re working to give consumers peace of mind so they come home to what they expect. Their package on their front porch. It’s a problem 11 million Americans have experienced and we’re making a community-focused product to put a dent in the problem.
